Welcome to Bistrot La Minette
|An authentic French Bistrot in Philadelphia|
Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey's dream that began a decade ago during his culinary studies in France: to create a restaurant that would share his love of the authentic bistrot experience with his fellow Philadelphians.
"Dessert at La Minette is all about promise fulfilled and expectations exceeded."

March 2014 at Bistrot La Minette
Here is what’s happening this March at the Bistrot.
DINNER IN AUVERGNE WEDS. MARCH 26TH AND THURS MARCH 27TH
Point a finger right in the middle of France and you are pointing to Auvergne. My sister-in-law has been living there since 2003 and in the last ten years I have had a chance to visit her several times. Auvergne is known for its volcanic landscape, knife craftsmanship, cheese, lentils, Vichy candies and even for its massive Michelin tire factory. As always the menu is for $35 and with wine pairings for $50.
Soupe au Chou Cabbage and potato soup, lardons, St Nectaire crouton
Joseph Mellot Pinot Noir, Ménetou Salon
Tarte Auvergnate Auvergnate style cheese tart, Cantal, Bleu d’Auvergne, bitter lettuces, mustard vinaigrette
Domaine Ricard de la Potine Sauvignon Blanc, Touraine
Petit Salé aux Lentilles Confit pork belly, sausage, lentils, mirepoix
Domaine Bruno Cabernet Franc, Bourgueil
Pompe aux Pommes Apple stuffed Puff Pastry, Crème Fraiche Lemon Zest Ice Cream
Jovly Chenin Blanc, Vouvray
READ MY BLOG DURING MY TRIP TO FRANCE
As I mentioned in an earlier newsletter, I am taking our new chef Kenneth Bush to France for an eating trip. We will be flying into Lyon, eating at some of the best bistros in Lyon as well as visiting my in-laws to get some good ole home cookin’. I’ve decided that I would like to bring back the blog I did a couple of years back to give everyone an idea of what it is we must suffer through in order to bring Philadelphia authentic French cooking.
UPCOMING CHARITY EVENTS
We support many charities throughout the year, but the spring seems to be a charity event busy season. Here are some of the events we participate in:
On March 22nd we will participate in ACHEIVEability’s Food For Thought, which does a fantastic job breaking the poverty cycle here in Philadelphia. https://www.achieveability.
On Friday April 4th we will be at the Four Seasons for The Party, which supports Donors are Heroes to raise public awareness about the importance of becoming an organ and tissue donor and to dispel the myths surrounding this process.
On April 27th we will be participating in the Taste of the Nation at the Hotel Monaco to raise funds for No Kid Hungry.
BRET LYONS, OUR COCKTAIL CONCOCTER
For many months now, we have been working diligently on our cocktail program. Bret “Tyrion” Lyons (who we call Tyrion for his love of fantasy/sci-fi and to have a little fun at his expense) a long time captain at the Bistrot, has for some time, been creating our cocktail list. For months he has been infusing gins, cooking syrups and hurting my liver with all of his trial concoctions. Like the kitchen, he has been working with a traditional palate (read: no freeze-dried campari chips) and has also interpreted some classics with French-only products. We are not a cocktail destination but we do care very much about the details, and Brett has been doing a stellar job with this one very important detail. This spring we will be featuring a new list of cocktails but until then, the current cocktail menu is as follows:
French 75 Magellan gin, lemon, sugar, sparkling wine
Cocktail Normand Coquerel calvados, ginger ale, cinnamon
Minette En L’Air Pinnacle Vodka, Lillet blanc, blood orange puree, sparkling wine
Vesper Herbaceé Pinnacle white pepper infused vodka, Bombay rosemary infused gin, lillet
Pomme La Poire Apple cider, pear puree, cinnamon (non alcoholic)
We hope to see you soon!
