Welcome to Bistrot La Minette

An authentic French Bistrot in Philadelphia

Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey's dream that began a decade ago during his culinary studies in France: to create a restaurant that would share his love of the authentic bistrot experience with his fellow Philadelphians.

CHECK OUT MY NEW MENU CHANGES FOR DINNER AND BRUNCH
The spring produce keeps coming, I’ve switched much of the menu over to lighter spring fare. Check out our dinner menu here…  and check out the new brunch menu here… At lunch I have added some more selections and changed several dishes that will satisfy the most hard-core brunchies. We’re offering a three course $25 Prix fixe of any appetizer, entrée and dessert from our menu.

NATIONAL ESCARGOT DAY, MAY 23rd AND 24th
The traditional French escargot-harvesting season has just drawn to a close, and in the escargot-gathering areas of France, the harvest is traditionally followed by an escargot feast.

On Wednesday May 23rd and Thursday May 24th, we will join several other Philadelphia restaurants in celebrating the National Escargot Day starring the Wild Burgundy Snail, Helix Pomatia Linne. Though we often have the traditional Escargots de Bourgogne (snails with garlic-herb butter) on our menu, there are many other great escargot dishes in the French repertoire. You'll have a chance to taste three great escargot dishes at this yearly event. See the menu here…

OUTDOOR DINING and MOVIES UNDER THE STARS RETURNS
Our garden courtyard won Philly Mag’s Best Of Philly Award for Best Outdoor Dining. And our sidewalk deck is a great place to dine and watch the world go by. We're serving outside, except when it's raining. If in doubt, give us a call.

We start our Movies Under the Stars on Monday, April 30, and will be showing a variety of French films (with subtitles) Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays in our garden courtyard (weather permitting) through September. Monday and Thursday films start at 8:30, and we have a late show Friday's at 9:30 when you can have dinner and then relax with the movie, or come in for a light snack, a bottle of wine, or dessert and coffee. See the schedule here… or pick up the schedule print-out the next time you come in.

COMING THIS SUMMER
I have decided that for the summer, we will concentrate on the great summer tastes of Provençale cuisine: you know, summer vegetables like eggplant and tomatoes, wonderful light fish dishes, the smooth tang of good olive oil, grilled items, all that things that make summer special. We'll make the transition sometime in June. Of course, we will have our traditional Bastille Day(s) celebration, with an authentic French barbecue centered on July 14th, and will again celebrate Bistrot La Minette's birthday in August. Replacing our monthly regional dinners, will be several collaborations I am planning with other great Philly chefs. Look for details later this month and in June.

Chef Peter in France

Chef Peter traveled to France for several weeks in August of 2011.  He visited Dijon in the Burgandy region, and sampled many dishes, some of which will make their way on to the menu of Bistrot La Minette.  This section of the cite contains Chef Peter's writings about his travels and items to look for on the Bistrot La Minette menus.
